Bolle Farms

Posted by osfn admin 23 Oct, 2008

Brenda and Jack Bolle have been farming since 1960. It has been six years since they began bringing their country fresh vegetables to the city, through the Owen Sound Farmers’ Market.

They have an extensive list of produce. In late spring and early summer there are green onions, radishes, asparagus, spinach and lettuce. In summer: carrots, potatoes, Spanish onions, and beets (bunched beets with greens and bunched baby carrots). In late summer and fall: squash, leeks, cabbage, brussel sprouts, cooking onions, turnips, kale and tomatoes.

They can extend the season with their winter storage vegetables: 50 lb. bags of potatoes such as Yukon Gold, Chieftain reds, Cherokee and White. They sell all kinds of varieties of squash: amber cup, acorn, pepper, spaghetti, sweet mama, and butternut.

Farm-gate sales are available throughout fall and winter: potatoes, squash, turnips, leeks and cooking onions.
Customers can pick up a business card at the Owen Sound Farmers’ Market.
